What did you think? - 2005/12/23 18:10 Hi Everyone!

I made some bold statements in my article/Christmas greeting entitled "'Tis the Season" dated 23 December 2005, and I'm curious to know what you think.

Feel free to discuss or air your views here, or to leave a comment below the article - perhaps we can all learn something!

God bless!

Re:What did you think? - 2005/12/28 16:01 Everyone of the 365 years of the day belongs to the Lord. Let no person on earth proclaim that this or that day belongs to the heathens! Philip, I fully agree. Let us celebrate Christ! If someone has a deep problem with the 25th of December, let them choose any other day or days of the year and celebrate the birth of Christ on that day. The 25th of December, like every other day of the year, belongs to God. So let us rejoice!

Re:What did you think? - 2006/02/01 10:44 I have a different view. I agree fully that all 365 days belong to the Lord, and that we must live every day for Him.

However, I have an inherent problem with attempts to take a worldly thing (that has its roots in the world and not in the Spirit), and try to purify/make it holy. "Christmas" does not deserve the focus and attention it gets - neither from the world, nor from the church. Christ deserves our attention - every day.

I choose not to celebrate Christmas, but the Lord has convinced me not to make a big thing of it - Rom 14:5 "Or, say, one person thinks that some days should be set aside as holy and another thinks that each day is pretty much like any other. There are good reasons either way. So, each person is free to follow the convictions of conscience. Rom 14:6 What's important in all this is that if you keep a holy day, keep it for God's sake; if you eat meat, eat it to the glory of God and thank God for prime rib; if you're a vegetarian, eat vegetables to the glory of God and thank God for broccoli.
Rom 14:7 None of us are permitted to insist on our own way in these matters. "
