Possessing Your Spiritual Territory PDF Print E-mail

Every Christian has been given spiritual territory that he needs to possess.

In speaking of Old Testament Israel, the Bible says: "Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come." (1 Cor. 10:11)

In understanding how Israel had to possess the promised land God gave to them, we will understand what we need to do in order to inherit the vast spiritual territories God has given to us.  Your allotted spiritual territory includes living in blessing, prosperity and health.  It includes having a successful, heavenly family life.

Your spiritual territory includes having authority and influence in different spheres, for example business, education and the media.  It includes special anointings in different areas and special authority in specific physical locations on the earth.  You may be called to open a Christian corporation, a Christian school, university or hospital.  Maybe God has called you to reform education in your nation or put an end to abortion or violence on television in your nation.  Maybe God has given you new revelations in the area of information technology or transport and you are called to implement it for the good of multitudes.

The calling is burning in your spirit, but the obstacles between you and the fulfillment of that calling are huge and frightening.  Many Christians decide to simply stay in the desert, rather than to face the formidable cities and giants beyond the Jordan.  Others cross the Jordan, but because they never deal with Jericho, they continue to suffer and live unfulfilled lives.

God has given you the most amazing, wonderful spiritual territory.  Now you need to possess it.  Overcoming the enemy and possessing your promised land will bring glory to God both in the physical and spiritual realms.  The result will be fulfillment of Mat. 6:10 in your life: "Your kingdom come.  Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

In order to possess your spiritual territory you first need to SEE it.  God sent 12 chosen men to the promised land so that the nation would know what wonderful territory God had given them.  Through the eyes of doubt that promised land won't look too inviting.  In starting a family, church or business, school, university, hospital or media company, you will face countless obstacles, attacks and problems.

Without looking at your spiritual territory through eyes of faith, you won't foresee the incredible joy and sense of victory that will ensue each time another problem, giant or stronghold is overcome.  If you are a man, you will constantly seek adventure in secondary issues of your life, rather than experience THE adventure of possessing your spiritual territory.

You live only once!  Don't waste it on secondary goals!  Ask God today to start revealing your promised land to you.  He is calling you to rise from your sweet slumber and soft couch, to stop living an easy remote-controlled life, and move into that which has been prepared for you before the foundations of the earth.

In order to possess your spiritual territory, you need to BELIEVE that it has been given to you and PROCLAIM it.  Whatever you believe in your heart and proclaim with your mouth, whether it is based on the deception of the enemy or on the Word of God, will happen to you.

In Numbers 13 we read that the 12 spies were sent into the promised land.  Twelve men went up to the exact same land, but the confession of one group was in direct contrast with the confession of the other group.  The report of the majority was that although the promised land was flowing with milk and honey (Num. 13:27), the obstacles were huge (Num. 13:28&29).

In verses 32 and 33 we read: "And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, `The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature.  There we saw the giants (the descendants of the Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight."

Caleb, on the other hand, had another report.  Notice that your victory is not dependant on your circumstances, but on HOW YOU REACT TO YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES.  People without faith will always see problems, obstacles and a thousand reasons why something can NOT be done.  You don't need to be a rocket scientist or a great prophet to figure out that there are many problems and obstacles in the world we are living in.  The challenge is to SEE the great opportunities and victories ahead of you.  Taking up that challenge will bring you rewards that are out of this world.

Num. 13:30 - "Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, `Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.' "

Your hour has come to quiet the skeptics and boldly proclaim: "Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it!"
