- God has prepared tremendous spiritual territory for us in 2008, on both personal and corporate level.
- In order to take possession of that spiritual territory, He has given us 366 days, each of them like a precious jewel.
- Look what God did in 6 days. What are we going to do with the 366 days He is giving us in 2008?
- Each precious day of 2008 has been given to us for a purpose; to possess the spiritual territory God has prepared for us. That is why we can say at the beginning of each new day: "this is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!" (see Ps. 118:24)
Here are Three of the Keys for Possessing our Promised Land in 2008:
1. Have a revelation of God's wonderful promises for you. - Revelation is established in our hearts through God encounters. In Ex.3:7&8, Moses had a God encounter.
- The Lord said to him: "I have seen Israel's suffering in Egypt, I have heard their cries and I know their sorrows." Know for sure that the Lord sees and hears the sufferings, cries and sorrows of people in need. He desires to deliver such people and bring them into His blessing!
- In Ex. 3:8, the Lord says: "So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey ..."
- God wants to deliver you out of the land of the enemy and bring you to a good, large and blessed land. If you have good, large and blessed land, you can plant, build, expand and consequently multiply exceedingly.
- The fact that the land is good means you have the right to dream
- The fact that the land is large means you have the right to dream big
- The fact that the land is blessed means that your big dreams will be blessed
- Consequently you will multiply exceedingly, which means you are fruitful (Joh 15:1-8; Joh16)
2. Believe it and proclaim it! - Test yourself: are you constantly proclaiming the promises of God? If not, there is only one of two reasons:
- You don't know the promises of God for your life.
- You know them but don't believe they will come true.
If that is the case in your life, spend time with God to deal with this and get back on your heavenly track. - In Num. 13 and 14, we see that twelve of Israel's top leaders were sent out to the Promised Land. Ten out of the twelve proclaimed that it would be impossible to enter the Promised Land.
- Because of those leaders' lack of belief, Israel said in Num. 14:2: "...if only we had died in this wilderness."
- Israel received what it proclaimed: the Lord told them in Num. 14:28: "...just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do for you: the carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness..." May God give in 2008 that you WON'T be in the big and popular party of the doubters, the complainers or the proclaimers of doom and failure.
- The physical eyes of Joshua and Caleb saw exactly the same things that the eyes of the other ten did, yet their spiritual eyes saw something totally the opposite of what the others saw. In Num. 13:31, Caleb says: "Let us go up at once and TAKE POSSESSION, for we are well able to overcome it."
- Joshua and Caleb eventually entered the Promised Land, because they knew the promises of God, believed it and proclaimed it.
- In 2008, will you be in the party of the Timid Ten or the party of the Terrific Two?
- If you think and speak like the majority of people around you, you will get the mixed results of the majority around you. If you want to rise above the pack, you need to start thinking and acting like the Terrific Two. Heavenly thoughts and heavenly proclamation will lead to heavenly results. This will happen sooner or later; the question is not IF but WHEN (see Is. 55:10&11).
3. Stand up and take action. - Moses couldn't simply sit in the desert and marvel at the amazing word he has received from God at the burning bush. He had to get up and go down to Egypt, which certainly wasn't the most exciting or romantic job he could think of.
- In Joshua 1:3, God tells Joshua that every place that the sole of his foot will tread upon, God has given to him.
- On the one hand, God has already given the land to Joshua, on the other he still had to go and possess that land by putting his feet on it!
- When God announced to Joshua that the land is theirs, it wasn't as if the heathens living there simply apologized, took their things and moved to Spain or Greece. They were still there.
- Right now, the spiritual territory God has given to you to possess in 2008 is most probably infested with giants, fortified cities and wild animals. Circumstances and the Timid Ten Pack are probably telling you that you are out of your mind and extremely presumptuous. Joshua and Caleb have been there. Moses has been there. David has been there. Paul has been there. Jesus has been there. Welcome to the club of the Terrific Two!
- There will be moments where you will feel more as if you have joined the club of the Terrified Two. In those moments you need to stand strong on His unchanging word inside you. Once again study Joshua 1:6-9:
v. 6: "Be strong and of good courage..." v. 7: "Only be strong and very courageous..." v. 9: "Have I not commanded you? BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE..." Get the message? You and I are going to need this in 2008... - In James 2:17-26, we read that faith without works is dead. v. 26 states that "...as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." Be sure not to act like a corpse in 2008, but like a living being.
- In 2008, let your faith be alive, build up spiritual momentum week after week and month after month; stand up and put your feet on the spiritual territory that belongs to you. As you do it, spiritual giants will lose their heads and fortified cities will come tumbling down! Give glory to God!
