Dear friends
Greetings from Moscow in the precious name of our Lord Jesus!
Since our return to Russia, I have twice visited the head office of our association in St. Petersburg. TBN Russia is expanding throughout this country and many other nations at a rate that is overwhelming to the natural mind.
More and more households are able to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ directly into their homes. You will recall that this is a key element in our strategy to see churches planted across Russia and the former Soviet Union (see "21st Century Roman roads to the glory of God!"). Here are the facts:
- The Association of Christian Churches of Russia "Unity of Christians" (ACCR) is working in partnership with Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) to eventually see 24 hour Christian Television in the Russian language brought to almost every Russian household on earth.
- With 48 satellites and 7,500 cable channels linked up, TBN is one of the biggest television networks in the world.
- The headquarters of TBN in Russia is located in St. Petersburg, Russia. From there the signal is send through an 18 metre satellite dish to the Express 2AM satellite (replacing Express 6A), reaching 61 countries in the world.
- The Russian language signal is eventually passed on to a network of 5 satellites, enabling us to reach Russia, the entire former Soviet Union, most of Asia, the whole of Europe, the United States and Canada.
- Keep in mind that many countries outside Russia have a substantial Russian population:
- In Israel, the second language is Russian
- Germany has a Russian population of almost 4 million
- The USA has a Russian population of 5 million
- Canada has a Russian population of 1 million
A new channel - Rodnoi - has been created to reach the Russian population in America and Canada. This opens up powerful opportunities for planting churches amongst the Russian communities in America and Canada. - At the writing of this letter (September 19, 2005), 100 channels in Russia had already signed up. We are expecting this number to grow by 30 to 40 channels a month.
- In Europe 92 more channels have been signed up. The growth there could be as fast as 100 channels a month.
- In Moldavia, all cable companies have been signed up.
- In Riga, Latvia - thanks to government recommendation - TBN will soon be seen by every household in the city.
- Another city that will now have TBN in every household is Khabarovsk, in the far east of Russia.
- Negotiations are underway for Russian TBN on Sky TV, the biggest channel in the UK. (By now you understand the strategy - this means potential church plants in the UK).
- We are in the process of creating a new television channel in St. Petersburg. It will be called Victoria, with 50% Christian content, and 50% secular content (news, documentaries, etc.). This channel will be aimed at Moscow, St. Petersburg and Russian cities with a population of more than one million people.
- This channel will appeal to another segment of the Russian population, enabling us to further penetrate Russia with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- We are now forming TBN Moscow, with myself as director. Our number one priority is to get TBN in every home in Moscow and the Moscow Region. For this we need special prayer and spiritual warfare. I will soon introduce you to the TBN Moscow team.
- We are privileged to now partner with InVictory.com/InVictory.org, a megaportal of Russian Christian resources. I recently met in St. Petersburg with Sergei Bovets, the founder of this media ministry. The portal is now visited by 100,000 people a month. More than 25% of that number of people is from Moscow! Where possible, we want to follow up on these visitors.
- Our Russian language website is now in development. We hope to soon announce it's launch. This website will be linked to our TBN Moscow website, which is also now under construction.
- You will soon see how all this fits into our overall strategy, as an explanation of the Kingdom Vision will soon be put on the Mission Russia Information Platform.
Let us give God all the glory for His marvelous work in the nations!
"...to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen." (Rom. 16:27)
In Him
